Musharref, with all his baggage: Is not presently engaged in killing American soldiers in Iraq Is not arming the Shia militias to destabilize Iraq Is not funding the Taliban Is not Responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Americans in Beirut and Khobar Towers Does not deny the Holocaust Is not funding Hizbullah and Hamas with hundreds of millions of dollars year Is not trying to destroy democracy in Lebanon with a Hizbullah coup. and by assassinating opposition politicians Does not openly proclaim that the Israel will soon be destroyed and ought to be "wiped off the map" Does not parade Pakistani warheads with "Death to the USA" and "Death to Israel" written on them Is not a fanatic Mahdist expecting the imminent return of the 12th Imam By comparison, Musharref is a great, rational, and dependable ally, and yes I know how dirty ISI's hands are. Ahmedinijad is an open enemy. Open in his rhetoric, if not totally open in his actions. But the use of Qods Forces, Hizbullah and Hamas to do the dirty work is fooling nobody. As a head of state, Ahmedinijad cannot be denied a visa to speak at the UN. BUT the head of the regime that kidnapped US diplomats in 1979 (the kidnappees say he was one of the kidnappers) and has been in a state of war the with the US ever since, he is owed NOT ONE diplomatic courtesy. And he wouldn't be given one, anymore than Pieter Botha was, if Columbia Univeristy wasn't filled with America - hating lefties who get a thrill from Ahmedinijad and will gleefully help him make propaganda.
