I have a friend who goes to Thailand every winter for three months, and he loves it. I don't know where he stays other than it's in the northern (non-tsunami) part of the country. He's been doing it for many, many years so he has lots of friends and such there-he gets his dental and medical work done there, for instance, as long as it's not an emergency situation. Doesn't really appeal to me, although having never been there that's a statement about my tastes differing from my friends more than anything else.

Another person I ran into but don't know very well visited all of her far flung relatives across the globe when she retired and picked Buenos Aires to live permanently. She had nothing but good things to say about it.

I haven't found a place I'd rather live than here (yet), but am always looking at possibilities. Since we are now raising a 10 year old, it's just a fantasy for now anyway, and if the dollar keeps being devalued it may remain one. That's ok (and out of my hands), I like where I live and the house is paid for. We liked Australia and Costa Rica, up in the mountains. Just thought the guys point of view was interesting.
