Imho, the mere fact that you have to spend time and effort shopping and looking for sales means prices in general have gone past your personal comfort zone. I never buy ground beef anymore as it is never the 99 cents a pound I was used to : )

I can stave off higher prices as long as sale prices are low.
Chicken was .49 lb. last week. That a great deal if you ask me. I don't know how they can raise chickens for that price.

Enough food. Let's talk GM

Playing Hardball With The UAW
globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com
GM workers went on strike after negotiations broke down over job security. GM and the UAW had reached tentative agreement over health care issues but GM refused to budge on other issues. GM management seems determined to break the UAW in a game of all or nothing hardball. For now anyway the market seems to like it. Who can hold out longer?

Since we're all big on freezing here, may I remind everyone that the "carrying costs" (i.e., electrical bill) for freezing has more than doubled in the last 7 years?

Chicken's through the roof. Whole chickens are even getting hard to find on a regular basis, prolly due to corn being diverted to ethanol....I know, I grill up beer-can chicken once or twice a week.
