I wonder how many people turn the hot water heater off when they travel. I used to do that except in the winter.

After we switched over to two new refrigerators and I unplugged an old freezer, our monthly electric bill--all year--dropped by about $25 a month. That's a lot tax-free savings--about a 20% annual tax-free return on the investment.
