It was pretty here today too and your lawn story reminded me of this:

The first and last time I mowed grass was in about 1962 in the summer. Our grass had gotten high, I had reminded my husband it needed cut and didn't get done because of higher concerns of his. So, I proceeded to cut the yard and didn't know a 100 foot hose had been left out and not put up as it should have been (probably by the kids) and I turned it into ten different pieces. I left them sitting in the yard. When he arrived home and saw them sitting there, he came in and asked me to do him a great big favor which was, "Don't ever cut the yard again".... Later that year we moved to a new home and the yard was much larger and he cut it a few times and then hired a man to cut it each week and we have had a yard maintenance crew ever since. He has told that story many times on me and I just smile and think..."Do you think this dumb blond did not know what I was doing after I ran over it the first time?" Yep, my yard days were over for good. (big grin) But I had good intentions of helping him out with it, and figured the smaller pieces would be easier for him to pick up after I realized what had happened because I surely wasn't going to. He teased me and said he was going to nail all those pieces on a board and set it by the lawn mower to remind me not to help him with the yard any more. Of course, silly man, he was just making more garbage in the garage because I did not need to be reminded ever again and would never let him bring it into our home as art...never!

I called my Mom and told her to tell my Dad what happened and she called me back and said my Dad had said...he thought that was the funniest thing he had ever heard about a wife cutting the grass to help a busy husband when she had no experience of doing it and they both had a good laugh. Some where in that message was a good lesson to be learned and I guess I learned it well...
