It should be lower now because contractors have taken over some support functions.

I tried to find the Lt Gen you mentioned, but can't see a word about him, other than the words you posted. He can't be too well known, or maybe not well liked....even the media doesn't have anything on google.....

All Generals who reach that level, should have to go through SF training for at least two years IMHO. How can any of them aspire to total leadership, if they don't know how to do what they expect their underlings to do....

The advantage of that experience would be very obvious very quickly.

I also wonder why the Navy and Air Force aren't being used more? Wouldn't that be less costly than using the Army land forces for everything? Or are we really now in a peacekeeping mode?

Thanks for all the responses....We sure don't get much of an answer from any of our papers nor the magazines.
