There has not been a budget surplus since 1957!!!! The total debt rose every year under Clinton. Things are much, much worse under Bush to be sure. The so-called surplus was in fact nothing more than a reduction in the operational deficit to a point where the SS surplus in and of itself covered it. Please - for your country's sake - stop spreading this horrible rumor that our government has shown an ounce of fiscal discipline in the last 50 years. To me it is an apolitical issue. Congress - Dems and Pubs - spend like drunken sailors.

"You can either vote Republican and continue current policies or you can vote for change."

'change' might be for the worse.

"You can either vote Republican and continue current policies or you can vote for change."

The current policies will be in place for a long time. Everyone's scared to death about the next domestic terrorist attack. If they vote against military programs, they stand the risk of having it used against them in the event of another 9-11.
