Habit - thanks for the links.

You (may) have misunderstood my post. I wasn't criticizing the PRC. I was simply reporting some interesting news.

I post lots of articles, discussing issues around the world. The PRC is a particular interest in that its impact on the world will be spectacular. Also, on the personal side I have business and family connections there (I have many Chinese relatives). So I focus much attention there. But of course I'm very well aware that extreme environmental issues, such as falling water levels, are not confined to just China. However, in the PRC these issues are particularly extreme and a direct threat to the country's well-being.

Not just a foreigner's opinion - I've found this view is widely held by the Chinese themselves, as well as the leadership.
