sea, You (may) have misunderstood my post. I wasn't criticizing the PRC. I was simply reporting some interesting news. My mistake. I had thought you were singling out China. I'm glad to learn otherwise. However, in the PRC these issues are particularly extreme and a direct threat to the country's well-being. Hmmm. Perhaps China's population density makes pollution and depletion of scarce resources a more immediate danger, but the time scale (for cleaning up pollution, finding alternative resources, etc.) makes the situation no less urgent for the West since the standard of living they're trying to protect is much higher to begin with. habit
