What other things outside of X86 did they contribute?

The first commercially available DRAM.

The first commercially available Microprocessor.

The first commercially available flash memory.

Nothing important.

Don't disparage what they did. Intel did contribute a lot of the early chips. DEC did also, their Tulip chips are still supported under Linux.

Intel was there in the early days. Grant them their due.
