I don't know anybody who's ever made a dime on the climatic consequences of El Nino/La Nina. And so far as I can tell no pre-season hurricane forecasters are ridiculously Buffett-like wealthy.

Just to beat a dead horse. The article cherry picks the fall of 2000.
Here's what you get when you use data from the La Niña years of
1942, 1950, 1955, 1964, 1970, 1973, 1975, 1988, and 1998.
