A. Schulman shareholder urges company to explore options

Oct 22 (Reuters) - Ramius Capital Group LLC, a shareholder of chemical maker A. Schulman Inc (SHLM.O: Quote, Profile, Research), urged the company's management to explore strategic options, including a sale.

Ramius, which holds a 7.6 percent stake in the company, said in a letter that the company has not made adequate progress on improving its profit. (Reporting by Supantha Mukherjee in Bangalore)

Spartech CEO Buys 40,000 Shares

Spartech Chief Executive Myles Odaniell Buys 40,000 Shares for $13.49 Apiece to $14.26 Apiece

NEW YORK (AP) -- The chief executive of Spartech Corp., which makes thermoplastics, bought 40,000 shares of stock, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Wednesday.

In a Form 4 filed with the SEC, Myles Odaniell reported he bought the shares for $13.49 apiece to $14.26 apiece on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Insiders file Form 4s with the SEC to report transactions in their companies' shares. Open market purchases and sales must be reported within two business days of the transaction.

Spartech is based in Clayton, Mo.
