We did it with Libya and we are doing it with North Korea. Its a choppy but necessary process. If nadine had her way, we would be having nuclear winter instead of global warming assuming the Cuban Missile crisis would have led to global nuclear war. Russians armed vietnamese with weapons they used and china provided transport. We had detente with USSR and nixon went to china. Should we regret doing this? Question is for nadine.

Detente,in a word ,is what is called for...america needs agreement with iran on several fronts...iran needs agreement with america in very much the same way. If we had continued detente in the 1980s the USSR would still exist. We only chose containment over war with the USSR in the first place because they were too strong to pressure otherwise. Do you think it was a good result that Stalin's empire was allowed to survive his death by 40 years? You want to see another 40 years of Mideast history with this nuclear armed theocratic politburo calling the shots?
