the only other thing i would add to your post is to use kosher salt with hot water and paper towels to 'scrub' the pan without detergent

add a light coating of canola oil, put back into the oven and you are done!


MD, That's exactly what my wife and I have been doing for many years and it works perfectly. The cast iron cookware gets better and better with years of seasoning.

Thanks. I'll try that.

I have been using baking soda with a bit of moisture left for a few hours on any burned on grease spots with necessary. Then I rinse off with some light scrub brush or netted sponge. I do not know why from a chemistry point of view but that seams to work well while being kind to the surface.

I'll try the Kosher salt next time instead. Thanks again.
