Think of it. Our parents started when a primary locomotion was animal power, and now we have space travel. One or two generations previous to theirs animal power was the only major source of locomotion.

Henceforth human history will merely be changed by enhancements to principles already employed on a daily basis. The next step, a transportabeam like that on Star Trek, is probably not even possible.
