It is a proven fact of marketing that the more choices a consumer has to purchase something, the more likely he is to buy it. A huge number of consumers, overseas and domestic either
1. prefer to buy online
2. don't live anywhere near a computer store

HP was a poor choice for them and many others.

Even if it were not, the fact that there was only 1-2 brands of AMD-based notebooks in retail stores and 5-6 brands of Intel-based notebooks would reduce the sales of AMD-based notebooks because the consumer had fewer choices.
