Had we not turned the ball over 5 times I'd be on the coaching staff. They played a role but when you turn the ball over 5 times I bet you win less than 15% of the time (I'd love to see a stat on that).

Challenging the spot

You're dead on the nut! That was an emotional brain fart and it cost us a TO.

James Jones

McCarthy did what I'd have done - he benched him. The very first play next week would be a pass in his direction. The kid has talent and we need to bolster his confidence AFTER we did the right thing by benching him.

First half brain fart

I think 95% of people watching thought McCarthy made the right call by calling time out at the end of the first half - those people were wrong and this is why. There were 16 seconds left on the clock and we were already getting to the line. After the spike there would have been 10 seconds left but we'd have had a time out. What that would have done is force the Bears to play honest defense. Instead we had 1 chance to go for a corner pass and then kick a FG. Had we done it the way Favre wanted to (and I was thinking this way as well) it would have opened up the middle for a potential rocket ball TD instead of a low percentage 30 yard rainbow pass WHEN EVERYONE KNEW thats all you could do

I've never seen Favre light off on a coach in public until that boneheaded calling of a time out at the end of the first half. I thought Favre was going to assault him when he came to the sidelines. I think that call and then the little girl offense and Favre was lost. You are correct, you could see a totally different demeanor first half to second half. And then waste time outs on stupid red flags and then finally cut Favre loose and hope he can win the game for you with under 2 minutes and 1 time out left. Asinine.
