C2, but what can it mean? I'm not wedded to the idea of females being disadvantaged by earlier puberty, but nature has certainly intended something by it. Namely, that they in fact benefit from it. The obvious way they benefit is by having children at a younger age, before things go wrong for them in the wild Hobbesian world of nature red in tooth and claw of times gone by. The girls who matured later were more likely to die without procreating or die with fewer children having been born to take on the challenges. Nature is a numbers game. There is also an element of luck. Numbers in the wilds of tribal genocidal fight for survival were essential to defeat neighbouring tribes, grab the food supplies, streams and other resources and keep the evolutionary pace high enough to stay ahead. Women maturing young was a good idea. Blokes maturing young was not so good. It only takes a few males to fertilize the females and the alpha male made sure he was doing lots of that. So the rest of the males could spend their days learning how to do stuff and there was increasingly a lot to learn such as how to do agriculture, where everything is, who everyone is, how to sharpen an axe and how to swing it to quickly remove the ability of the opposition to continue in battle and how to make a musket so that the opposition didn't get a chance to swing their axe and how to anticipate the firing of the musket so that one could time a nuclear bomb attack to prevent their musket ball reaching its target. Blokes are intuitively Gung Ho for it. Females not so much. A rugby crowd is mainly men. The other evening, I minded a 2 month old grand-daughter and 2 year old grand-son with help from a daughter while the rest went to the ballet. I noticed [being an engineer prone to observe data when it's passing by] that the crowd was nearly all women, with some sad looking husbands in tow. The women were all cackling like chooks! Rugby is about one gang of blokes attacking another, grabbing the gold and escaping with it. The winners are really happy, if somewhat bloodied and get to win a World Cup. The losers get a drop in testosterone, lowered libido, feel bad, but these days are not enslaved, killed and eaten as Maoris used to do to those they defeated. Japanese weren't very nice either. Germans at least did some scientific research on their victims until they died - a shame to waste perfectly good bodies [such are the ethics of megalomaniacs]. Ballet on the other hand is beautiful, with orgiastic prancing and dancing and tutus, colour and music and twirling and swirling. Sure the story line might involve a dying swan and powerful bloke ringleader doing lifting and carrying, but he's not doing rugby. His costume is form fitting and they look like budgie smugglers. Males are different from females. One definite fact is age of maturity. We have other definite facts, such as numbers of Nobel Prizes, female high-end mathematicians, physicists. I think the two are linked. Later maturity confers advantage on boys who mature late. That's why nature has arranged it like that. Earlier maturity confers advantage on girls, which is why nature has arranged that too. 3 years is a significant period of time in a 12 year old's life so nature was really trying to make a move there. That has outcomes which make them different, which is the reason for nature having done it. Nature didn't do it so they would get the same outcome. I say having lots of babies was more important for women than getting longer in brain development and experience to go along with the brain development. You think that's bunk. Come on, WHY do you think nature arranged the difference in puberty? The NIH study won't tell you that. We have to figure it out for ourselves. Maybe Google knows. We are all so weak in brainpower that we have had to invent Google to handle the memory department and soon [already really] to handle the thinking. We are putting Google ads on Zenbu Wireless. zenbu.net.nz Google puts Wi-Fi antenna ads, hotel ads and other highly targeted advertisements. They are excellent. We couldn't put the advertisements on ourselves because it would be a lot of work to figure out which are the best places to link. Google does the thinking for us and even better, pays us to have the advertisements on Zenbu at the particular places Google says they should go. It is very clever thinking that Google is doing. Click on "Hints for improving coverage" to see what I mean. I just tried it and found this advertisement. ourlovecalculator.com; I have no idea why that one was put there. I'm sure Google has a good reason. People WANT to see the advertisements and we need the advertisements there so Zenbu users can solve problems they have, such as how to use Wi-Fi, how to expand coverage, where's a good hotel to stay at in the area, which car rental company can help, are there competing Wi-Fi wireless providers or related providers? Go one, tell me what you think might be the reason for nature arranging boys to mature later. And anyone else who has bothered to follow this could also come up with some ideas. Preferably ideas which fit data rather than Just So stories. TJ taunts CB over photovoltaic wings which is like pulling wings off butterflies. Butterflies are not designed to use photovoltaic wings. They are designed to look beautiful. Nature has obviously produced them so we can look at them flitting around the garden. Or perhaps to annoy us when their damn larvae eat the cabbages and swan plants. CB no doubt matured into a linguistically talented adult while TJ was a noisy little boy learning how electrons pumped around wires. By the time CB was told anything about third order partial differential calculus, or the foundations of it, her brain was already zooming down linguistic channels and was fully developed so hacking new pathways through the synaptic jungle would have involved something as serious as Tiger Woods deciding to ditch golf and take up snooker when he was 18. The chances of Tiger doing that and going on to be world champion were negligible. We can conclude that TJ is a bully, prone to pulling photovoltaic wings off butterflies, and carrots out of the neighbours ground, and conquering Taiwan so that he and his tribe can have their way with the Taiwanese women [though he wouldn't think that's his motivation] and grab the gold, or 450MHz OFDM if they have it. My mother was a feminist en.wikipedia.org ever since I knew her [died 1984]. Denying facts wasn't part of her thinking. She was not in favour of Taleban type control of women and other people. She was in favour of girls and women being given equal opportunities. Delaying female education until it is too late would not have been her idea of a good idea. That's just more repression of a subtle form. Keeping the cute little girls amused until it's too late for them to get to grips with the serious stuff is repression, as certain as the Taleban making them wear burkhas. I don't know why you are in favour of repressing women. It's not good for you, or them.
