Depends on what part of the brain you are talking about. Higher thought varies considerably from individual to individual, but the lower brain functions, e.g., autonomic nerve responses, fight or flight, things which are functionally equivalent to instincts, are quite similar.

If you ever get a chance to watch the documentary I was describing, they have film footage of combat conditions and prison conditions which are quite extreme.

You were never in such a state, and neither was I, but I don't doubt that under extreme combat pressure for weeks on end, battle fatigue, prolonged traumatic stress, I could snap, and so could you.
