I've already posted evidence that Carter deliberately undercut the Shah. It was part of Brzezinski's Green Revolution strategy.

what was so worthy about the Shah anyway? He bought billions of dollars worth of US arms and wasn't a communist.
He was a strong pro-western force in the region capable of keeping the straits open and thugs like Saddam in line.

So what? He was a dictator. I though you Bushies hated dictators.

And pray-tell, if there were something the US presdient could have done to overthrow the Iranian revolution, why didn't Reagn do it instead of arming the iranian extremists the way he did using Ollie North as his arms trafficker.

Thuggish regimes are hard to overthrow. Just like Iran's today.
