A young girl who defended herself and her chastity against three male assailants who intended to kidnap and rape her causing injury to one of them who later died in hospital was condemned to death by hanging in an Islamic court in Iran. Nazanin who has seen no more than 17 Springs, all of which under the tyrannical rule of the Mullahs is now facing execution for trying to defend herself and her honor. No where in the world and under no law self defense is considered to be a crime, but in the tyrannical mullacracy of Iran if a woman does not resist rape she will be stoned as adulterer and if she does she will be hanged. Nazanin, this young innocent girl, was assaulted by three criminal men in the West of Tehran while strolling with her niece in a park last March (2005). To defend herself she pulled out a knife and stabbed one of her assailants. The knife penetrated the ribs of her attacker who later died in the hospital. The attacks on women in Iran is so frequent that many are forced to carry a concealed weapon for self defense. Unfortunately the Islamic law does not even allow women that right. Despite the fact that she had been acting in self defense, as shown by the evidences presented and the testimony of eyewitnesses, Nazanin was sentenced to death by hanging. In the last court hearing she repeatedly said “I only defended myself and the honor of my family”. Her words fell of deaf ears and the all male jury who like their misogynist prophet thought it is outrageous for a woman to stand for her rights and defend her dignity and honor, swiftly ordered her execution. Did you see the 60 minutes thing Sunday on the increase in the size of wildfires? No, but it doesn't surprise me. We had wildfires when I was in LA and they were horrific. But they pale compared to what's going on in S. CA right now. Last nite, it was reported that Marie Osmond collapsed at Dancing with the Stars in part because of breathing in the smoke all day. Jane Seymour's husband hid in the house when they were told to evacuate in order to fight the fire and she doesn't know if he's alive or dead. I don't think people understand how bad it really is.......this is the equivalent of having a huge fire in the middle of the Lincoln Park neighborhood in Near North Chicago. Its not in the rural areas for the most part but right in the cities of LA and San Diego. Two writers on the Real Money website who are from S. CA. signed off yesterday after being told they had to evacuate. I know people all over S. CA who I am sure were required to leave their homes. I feel for all of them. Its a nightmare....not just because of the fires but the traffic......I am sure its completely snarled as people are forced to evacuate while others are trying to do their normal business. Meanwhile all the 'safe' motels are booked so people were being put up in Qualcomm Stadium. Latest reports indicate that a half million have been required to leave their homes. Imagine....that's almost as big as the city of Seattle. And its only going to get worse. S. CA is overbuilt on land that should never have been developed for cities let along huge metropolises. It has no water, the ground shifts with every earthquake, the soil itself is mainly clay and sand....not good supports for building, the air is subject to repeated inversions and then there are the Santa Anas for the icing on the cake. S. CA should have been a resort area like the ones on the coasts of Mexico.....small cities with lots of hotels. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20. ;-((
