This discussion is way off topic, but I think you are giving the "Ron Paulists" far too much credit for activities done supporting 19th century mercantilism. Based on actions of the US govt (as opposed to the rhetoric) those people have virtually no say in anything done by the US govt.
On the contrary, it's other people who agree to accept the lesser of two evils that allow the current situation in the US to continue.

No comment on your other statements since they do not appear relevant to Oilsands discussions, (but I can't disagree with your observations regarding the occupant of the US white house.)

Or were your comments another Ron Paul spoof?

"They are also the contingent that keeps America from developing beyond a mercantile 19th century philosophy that of course becomes apoplectic at the suggestion that health care should be a legitimate service by governments funded by "shudder" taxes."

Thanks meta for your insightful comments. Last I heard, it takes 3+ months to see a specialist in glorious Canada; takes about 3 hours here in the states. Guess we aren't doing so bad after all. Imagine, the harder you work the higher quality of life you achieve.
