to me not insuring a dying person because of 'financial considerations' is just NOT my cup of tea no matter how vehemently you guys argue about it. What about life insurance? Do you think it's ok for a company not to offer life insurance to someone who's terminally ill or do you think the government should require that?

The key word there is "insuring," one that confuses much of the discussion of health care. Of course you don't "insure" a dying person. It makes no sense for an insurance company to do so. It turns the whole concept of insurance on its ear. Now if you want to talk about "providing medical services" to that dying person, that's another matter. It's not my cup of tea, either, to leave a dying person with no medical support. That's just inhumane. But you don't distort the concept of insurance in the name of humanity.
