If all you need is e-mail and not the other features that .Mac brings like auto backup and communication options, why not just sign up with a domain provider - then you have virtually unlimited e-mail addresses with your own domain (such as "herbvic.com") - I know of a good one at $84/year. You also get space for a web page (and/or data) (change via ftp or web control) with gigs of space and the web page(s) will be under your domain name, example herbvic.com .

So you can have for each member of your family:

ben@herbvic.com
adam@herbvic.com
hoss@herbvic.com
little_joe@@herbvic.com
hop_sing@herbvic.com
steve@herbvic.com
woz@herbvic.com

oh wait wrong family but you get the idea - then you can give out different email addresses to different vendors (and find out whose systems have viruses or are selling your address - well not conclusively):

amazon@herbvic.com
overstock@herbvic.com
victoriasecret@herbvic.com

etc and all these can go to one "catchall" e-mail address - different e-mail addresses but they end up in one box (if you wish)
