Last year my wife and I laughed hard at the lake. We were under the assumption that all newfs knew about boats.

We had just put ours in the water and were loading up the skis etc.

The guy at the boat launch next was a newf with a nice new bayliner. He backed it in, sat his wife behind the stearing wheel and pushed her out. A minutes later she started screaming "da bot is sinking! Waters coming in from the back. So I called over to him as he parked his truck and asked him if he put the rear drain plug in? I got a kind of confused look and then some recognition.

He dove for his glove box, grabbed a screw driver and the nylon plug went on a flat run for the lake. Next thing I know he is diving under his boat, trying to put the plug in while it slowly drifts farther from shore. Poor guy is at the back of boat cursing and swearing, diving under to get a good look and to get the plug in to stop the water.

After about 15 minutes they push the boat back to shore. He is exhausted, she is still frantic, and he is complaining about what a stupid design! Why couldnt they put the plug above the water line and if this is what he has to each time they take the boat out, hes taking it back!

We smiled all weekend!
