John,

Hell, it seems like a reality next week. Our economy hanging in the balance and we have no meaningful alternative strategy or policy.

We do. Nuclear and solar. Nuclear has been restarted, solar is gradually getting cost efficient. But both will take years to implement. There is no quick fix.

The only quick fix is that rising price of oil will make people conserve energy more.

Another quite quick fix is for people to start using wood pellet stoves / fire places instead of oil heat. It's not too much of capital expense, and we have plenty of domestically grown fuel...

Joe

If you want to see just how bad our politics is, just look at energy policy. It has been obvious this was going to happen for years, and now we are actually turning the corner and still these idiots can't take the 'plain as the nose on your face' actions that will avoid a catastrophe.

It's absolutely ridiculous... and they wonder why their approval ratings stink. These guys won't act until we are in a full fledged depression.

Its a bad state of affairs when a country's people are more visionary than their leaders.
