Not that I expect much better results under Rudy, but there you go. Jim is right; America has to taste some bitter medicine before it can make some well-needed fundamental changes.

Ending the war would be a big step... the 'peace dividend'. Getting off imported oil would reduce the trade deficit 1/3. Still have the accumulation of debt under Bush and the subsequent interest payments... but we could take some positive steps with decent leadership. That would rally the US$.

It's going to take a long while to change the course of the American economy and fiscal situation - it's like a supertanker.
We'll be in a Bush created recession by then, which will insure a Dem President, just as it did with Bill Clinton.

I don't expect any Dem that gets elected to do it overnight. It took Bill Clinton and Bob Rubin about four years to straighten out the Reagan/Poppy Bush supply side disaster. I don't expect Hillary or any other Dem to do any better. The hole is much deeper and our condition and the globalized world fiscal environment much graver for our country.
