Sleup,

If you listened to the cc, the big issue with the metering business is that Simtek's chips were to go into the high end meters. The problem was that the companies could not make the sales to the power companies like they thought they would so the orders didn't materialize. It wasn't that Ramtron cleaned their clocks, it was that their chips got designed into new products that didn't sell when everybody thought that they would.

Other business was coming along slower than expected and that is the reason why things slowed to the extent that they did. Simtek grew phenomenally in 2006 and faltered in 2007. I think with all the irons in the fire that they have right now, if, and it is a big if, they get the orders for the new chips up and going, we should be back to the highs of the past year and then some. I did sell some for tax purposes only the past few days. I do have some short term gains to try to offset.

There were some positives to point to. Margins are the best they have been. They are selling more this past quarter than they had in most of the years of previous management. And they are still growing with their biggest potential chip just coming to market. They are not burning cash and said there is no need for any dilution right now to get more cash. The big question remains can they deliver on the promise of the new chip?

I do think the ceo knows he screwed up with his overly optimistic guidance this past year and that is the reason for the lower guidance that they gave at the last cc. I think if they are going to grow more slowly, then they need to give some more frequent guidance.
