Valueing them at market, rather than the heretofore fantasy-world valuation of whatever the firms want to suggest as the value..............that is fear mongering? Everyone is afraid to price them at marked-to-market, but until they do, this problem won't be allowed to play itself out. Insisting on maintaining fantasy-world valuations does not resolve this, it only prolongs it. Marked-to-market will be painful, but it is at least reality, and begins to resolve the situation. Vultures, whether Buffet or whoever, will step in and begin to estblish an actual market price. This is not a bad thing.....it is a necessary thing. Until it's allowed to happen this problem won't go away.
