If she governs like Bill, I'll be happy.

Bush is so very bad, a return to what we had before him would be good enough for a start.

As a Washington creature, she will govern in a style similar to what we have seen the last 20 years, with all the slick partisan tricks that are considered the norm now.

In your context, she is not even succeeding as much as Bush did at camouflaging her basic political nature. I find all of that very disturbing. I want something better in Washington.

Actually, I would argue that Bush isn't a "Washington creature" or even, really, someone with real political instincts. His "50.1%" strategy isn't truly political--it eliminates the opposition from effective power, but not from the political scene. True politics requires dialogue with the opposition, at least throwing them some bones if nothing else. A true politician might well have a minority of the country fuming against them, but wouldn't inspire the widespread anger that Bush has managed to evoke.

The Clintons made similar mistakes in /93-94 with the health care fiasco, one can only hope that they learned from that. I think the second half of BC's presidency and the fact that even Republicans like Hatch have praised her act there provides evidence that she has learned from it. I don't care for the health plan she presented, and she isn't even my second choice for President among the candidates now running, but the cited incident doesn't really bother me--it is a far cry from what Bush has done throughout his presidency.
