you seem to be paving for the 'stage left' when UN authority lapses in a few weeks

in any case, in the mean time
- invasion was a fact
- occupation generally happens after invasion, as long as the invading troops stayed on
- puppet regime is alway available and set forth once occupation is underway, and the fact that puppets can issue invitation to invaders is taken as a matter of course and for granted
- subjugation fails whenever insurgents get organized to drive out invaders

... and this is where we are now at, until further developments

the intensity of interest this iteration is that we have a war where one side is determined to not lose, at any and all cost, for a long time, and the other side intends to win, at any and all cost, forever if necessary; and loss for one side simply means fight another day, and loss for the other means game effectively over, player one

the drama is incredible, and we get to watch it on TV, and

because one or the other side will lose, even if it takes a long time.
