I like many things about Obama. His unambiguous opposition to the war is one of the top things I admire. I also know he would pick supreme court justices I would consider outstanding. Further, I do think his race matters, and it could help put to bed the ugliness of our racial divisions in this country. It won't solve those divisions, but it will go some way to showing that we really are trying to be the inclusive country we claim we are trying to be.

Since we've never had anything but white males as presidents, I think it's time for a change. I understand white males may tell me that race is not and should not be an issue, but then they WOULD say that wouldn't they? I'd probably say that too if women have been presidents for 200+ years. But they haven't been.

Sure, I'd like to see a woman president, but I think racial strife is the more dangerous cancer in our county than gender strife- and I'm nothing if not patient.
