Of course. It wouldn't be a straw man if someone had actually said it...

Tench is playing the same old game the right always does when something comes up that reflects badly on one of them. Nuance, then spin the argument to some other area. Like, when the question came up about Smirk's lack of service in the Guard. They managed to shift the topic to the validity of the memos. And all the questions about what happened during that year and why he was avoiding his drug tests then just sort of evaporated.
