"Not as pathetic as your attempts to spin Herbert's column,"

Show me the spin. You always throw this out and never back it up.

"which started with a description of a heinous racial double-murder, then places Reagan's "states rights" speech squarely within that context as if the "white and, at times, raucous crowd of perhaps 10,000" (in Herbert's sensational words) were all advocates of that crime."

Sigh. It is a small town. They were hiding the murderers. There were suspicions of who did the murders, and as we have found out, those suspicions were correct. But the locals wouldn't cooperate and the case was stalled.

If there were 10,000 people there, then that was the vast majority of the local residents.

"Or your attempt to run away claiming victory"

I am not running away Tench. I am right here.

"Or your attempt to accuse me of the very tactics you yourself are guilty of time and time again, namely "spin" and "nuance.""

Show me the spin and nuance that I am supposed to be guilty of. Whenever I challenge you on it, you just don't answer.

In this case, you are trying to spin it. First you refused to believe the evidence. Then you tried to spin it that the Herbert was calling all states right advocates racists, when it was very clear he was only talking about that time and place. And then you up and labeled the association as false.

Now, it appears as if you are totally ignorant of that particular case, or are trying to spin it again.

Sorry to say Tench, but you are the only one trying to nuance and/or spin this issue.

"Or your repeated attempts to make ad hominem attacks against me, but not directly addressed to me."

Yawn. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. This is one of you favorites. Not as favored as your straw man arguments, but close.

I find it very interesting that you repeatedly accuse others of doing exactly the same things you do. It really fits in with your Laws of Partisanship. I suppose you think it is a pretty clever technique.
