When I do them indoors I put them onto a very hot cast iron that will put in the grill marks and char them about 2 minutes a side and then put them in a 350 oven for about 8/9 minutes. This is about 1.25" thick ribeye. That way I get my char flavor and it is about perfectly done.

I should investigate a George Foreman as everyone who has one seems to like it.
