Farmers coops are similar to a looser, employee owned corporation acting in the market. Just as there is minimal capitalist competition within a firm, there is little within the co-op. But both operate in a market economy with incentives and price signals provided by that economy.

Sometimes the collective is stronger than the individual. Sometimes not.


I find it fascinating their reaction whenever there is a discussion about another economic system, particularly if that system has a socialist overlay. If capitalism is the unmitigated success they believe it to be, why so much fear and anger and aggressiveness?
