M,

They also stopped Germany being a sovereign nation. The USA stopped Japan being a sovereign nation.
I didn't know China was invading any one back then but at any rate that is just a plain silly example and of course it is wrong. They stopped Germany and Japan from taking away other peoples sovereignty as a by-product of protecting their own. Too bad the Canadians had to wait so long for the US to join the party and thankfully for all of us, as Elmat pointed out, the Germans completely miscalculated on the unprecedented scale of American manufacturing power and will once they wake up..

If a murderous and uncharming ideologue like Jay Chen was in charge at the border, he would have shot him in the back to stop him escaping, as he is in favour of shooting in the back children escaping from Tibet over mountains in the snow. In East Germany, they would also shoot in the back anyone attempting to escape, leaving them to die slowly and painfully.

Much like the British eh! Indian mutiny ... Well that is what the British called it..
en.wikipedia.org or much like facilitating, not just letting someone waste away on opium ? Pretty easy to connect bad things to the British or Chinese, they are people .. So what is your point.. Mine is that the Chinese are no worse or better than the British. You seem to think that the British sinned for some higher purpose LOL.. Almost like they were on a mission from God to civilize the world.. where the end justifies the means..

The British were not spreading civilisation M. They were simply expansionist, sometimes murderous, largely hypocritical pirates imposing their will for profit simply because they could. No different than the Mongol hordes preceding them in the historical time line.. Now do not get me wrong. I repeat, they are no worse than anyone else.. but they certainly do not belong on a pedestal.

which leads me to You shouldn't feel bad about having a parasitic and predatorial ideology. It's the nature of nature, red in tooth and claw. I don't feel bad.. not at all.. My notion of the public good is not completely altruistic in nature, but rather pragmatic.. It enhances my environment...

M, I have no illusions regarding the nature of man..

As to ideologue... that thought has crossed my mind when reading on occasion.. :O)

My goodness we have been talking about this for a very long time see here.. (man's nature) from 6/8/2001 7:22:36 PM

Lions coming upon cheetahs will kill the cubs. Not to eat, to ensure dominance of their 'section' of DNA. Within that same lion society a male deposing another male will typically dispatch all young offspring of his former rival so he can get down to business ensuring his DNA's dominance. The nature of the beast.

They went bankrupt and hung on to the coat tails of USA. The final debt from World War II was paid back in 2007.

>Many people think the British were kicked out of the Empire and Commonwealth. In fact, there was a great voluntary withdrawal too.>

They abandoned ship.
