I agree and we need to help move them in this direction. When the shah was there we realized the strategic importance of iran. That has not changed because of current regime. We need to contain them, but also have detente with them. If we can get them to be less obstructionist on the mideast and iraq and join with them against the common enemey of al quaeda, we will make progress. On their side, they too need to show that they are willing to be one of many world leaders and not the messianic vision you sometimes get from ahamadijad.
