Rouark died at the young age of 50 , he was an acute alcoholic and died as a result of his drinking and life style habits.

His drinking, smoking and partying was part of the social scene he lived and reveled in, mostly in the South of France and Kenya, he lived in a modest but spectacular French Chateau and drove a Rolls Royce ...whether in France or Kenya he was the guy to be around if you were interested in having a good time...

He was larger than life in many ways and was considered a "Guys guy"...in African lore he ranks up there with Selby, Hemingway, Roosevelt, Capstick...

He left a mark.

regards

Ruark and Hemingway have those macho names that just drip with testosterone. I wonder how their lives would have gone with, say, Pink or Mary.

I remember driving up through Idaho on Highway 93 with my best buddy and his Mom back in 1961. Ketchum was off our path, but we heard on the radio that Hemingway was dead. We were so close we could have gone to the funeral if we'd changed our plans.
