The Camry has a nickel-metal-hydride battery pack that produces 245 volts and is covered by an 8-year, 100k-mile warranty.

The Civic also uses nickel-metal-hydride. I really thought I'd read somewhere that it was 144 volts, but according to what I'm finding today, it's 120 volts. It has an 8-year, 80k-mile warranty on the battery pack.

In researching the answer to your question, not only did I find the answer to one of my own (Q: How much fuel can it carry? A: 12.3 gallons), I also found that the in-car economy reporting is pessimistic to the tune of about 10%. The testers got 46 mph while the car itself said it'd gotten 42. So I may very well have gotten 44 on my trip.

One thing I did note that is that we used just barely over a tank of fuel. We topped off in Wakeeney, KS, where we'd drawn it down to half a tank, and when we got home it was showing just a couple of bars below half a tank.

My daughter tells me that while she was in Colorado, she would fill the car once a month at most.

Oh, and my reported 20-mile roundtrip commute? Wrong. I checked yesterday and it's exactly 5 miles each way. 3 miles of which is on a 60-mph highway. Since I don't go much of anywhere but work usually, and if we're going somewhere else we usually take the Camry, my gas station visits are also extremely rare. Especially since during warm weather, I randomly choose from 3 (formerly 4 when I had my truck) cars and 4 motorcycles for the commute.

On a completely unrelated but still car-related note, the left low-beam is out on the 94 BMW 530i. I can't find where the farmhand stashed the rest of my bulbs so I can confirm, but I think I might've put an H1 in there a while back. The back of the housing melted. I'm surprised it didn't catch fire.

My new "angel-eyes" headlamps arrived yesterday and if I can get the workshop warm enough, I'll be replacing all the headlights on the car today. Can't wait to see how it looks and how well they light the road. Low-beam has been unimpressive, and high-beam not much better, mostly because the lenses are etched and cloudy.

$298 for the CCFL (can't remember what that means) version vs. over $500 for the normal-looking Hella's I would've strongly preferred, but couldn't bring myself to spring for on an old, low-value car. Much as I love the car. When it's clean, I smile every time I see it because I love the lines so much.

Hope the new headlamps don't look too weird. Especially since I'm planning to paint the chrome "kidney" grill covers black while I've got it apart to make it look a little more sinister/serious. Pimp my bimmer.

Actually used a variation of that phrase yesterday. Was talking to the guy who does my heavy-equipment repairs and he was supposed to have put lights on the Cat 973 while I was in Vegas, but hadn't. Said he'd be out this weekend and said he's got me very hooked up lighting-wise, I'll be able to "light the world". Told him I like that because I want all the candlepower the alternator can handle. "Pimp my loader".

I could've really used them yesterday. I only needed another hour to finish off a temporary dam, but ran out of daylight and since it's raining now and has been for quite a while, the ground will likely be too wet or frozen to use the machine again until Spring.
