Chris, the "partisanship" back in Jesus' day was between the Pharisees and the Sauducees, but Jesus would not align himself with either. He had criticism for both sides, but mostly for the Pharisees.

You could equate the Pharisees with today's religious right, but that doesn't mean Jesus would have been a Democrat.

Really. I don't recall Jesus saying "blessed are those who take from others to give to the poor"? And certainly not "blessed are the tax collectors, and the dispensers of government pork"
