Re Battle of Brandywine....The advent of Internet is just such a boon to people who love to learn history....We always could before by going to the library, but it is such a wonder to just do searches from home, and find items that would have taken hours, if not months to find before....

I continually marvel at how this country was so fortunate to have not only the Founding Fathers, the leaders of the revolution, as well as the common man who was willing to fight for this country...Their families deserve so much credit as well, because not all of the soldiers made it back home. We didn't have much medicine then, nor supplies, and many of the families were campfollowers that went with their soldiers.

I've been to that Battlefield [of Brandywine]. There's a big sycamore tree there, the very same tree that Lafayette rested under, wounded.
