The death penalty only works if applied reasonably quickly. Today there is a MINIMUM of 10 years between sentencing and execution. Heck, who thinks out that long. jdn

I have never seen an objective study proving the death penalty is not a deterrent. Although there's plenty of empirical evidence of the opposite.
