madharry,

My point is that it doesn't even matter whether Iran actually has an active nuke or not.

The very fact that the same intelligence group said they did in their last report and say they don't now is telling you there is a major intelligence problem. That goes double in light of the similar errors in Iraq that span the entire Clinton administration.

Madharry,

KT would complain about Bush no matter what he said or did because he hates the man and the administration. There are a lot of things to dislike, but his hate eliminates any ability to be unbiased.

The one indisputable fact is that Middle East intelligence sucks and has sucked for at least 15 years (and probably longer). It has specifically sucked in Iran since 1979.

Israel is already saying they will present the U.S. with evidence suggesting the new report is in error.

So what's the truth?

The report was officially sent to Bush last week and he came public with it early this week. No problem. In fact, he wasn't even required to come public with it!!!! So the very fact that he did suggests the intent was NOT deception.

The existence of the report came to light in late summer. I'm not sure what anyone expects that the administration should have said or done before the report was official and the information could be released. Had they done something aggressive, then all hell would have and should have broken loose. But all they did was continue their aggressive verbal stance. That's a stance they are going to continue anyway because the goal is the same - preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

Anyone with any sense at all should be celebrating this development because the info came to light prior to anything aggressive being done. Now we can continue with the process of gathering information and trying to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons down the line without anyone making a premature move.

The only thing to be upset about is that our intelligence sucks and may even be wrong now.

Harry, this is not a question about how good our intelligence is. It is a question about when Bush hears it (August), what he lies about in October (Iran's nuclear program could cause WWIII), and when he tells the American sheeple that he has heard the NIE (in December). While he was busy scaring the American people and our few allies about mushroom clouds, he knew that the intelligence consensus was saying his ideas were nonsense. And, since he knows he overstepped the line, he is lying about when he knew it.

BTW, if Bush is not using the NIE to make decisions, what exactly is he using? Still hearing voices from heaven?
