Tim, most of the other first world countries have a VAT. And the percentage is usually higher than any sales tax in this country.

Of all the countries I have looked at, the only one with a shot at lower taxes than the US is New Zealand. And it doesn't quite make it. It might get with 10 percentage points, depending on the bracket. None of the European countries have a lower tax burden. Neither does Japan.
