It's not just class envy or love of Gaia:<But how much of hating of SUVs is based on the love of Gaia and how much on class envy?> Public space is shared and when things are shared it's annoying to have stupid greedy pigs grabbing more than their share and threatening others.

It was just one of the many daily details of road use but a day or two ago a dopey woman in an SUV came lunging out from somewhere, with her mind obviously elsewhere and her sense of presence overly indulged by her large surroundings meaning I had to take evasive action and account for her likely mismanagement of her tons of steel.

I know women are supposed to be wondrous multi-taskers, which is actually a load of malarkey, but they do have a predilection for dirty great SUVs and lack the mental capacity to manage them.

I'd prefer them to be driving little cars so they do less damage and have a sense of hazard in their proceedings.

Our daughter stupidly crashed into a car driven by a Chinese lady with a couple of children in it. Our daughter was driving "Big Red" which was a Jeep Cherokee SUV. She was texting or otherwise using her phone and not paying enough attention. The Chinese woman obviously wasn't managing the traffic around them to avoid the obviously deranged female having a go at them, so, unsurprisingly, two vehicles became not worth repairing.

They all got reasonably low-cost lessons in vehicle hazards and safety. I could have crashes all day long if I didn't avoid the hopeless cases.

"Chinese" is significant and especially "woman" Chinese, because they are especially hopeless at driving, causing much congestion and annoyance. Which is not surprising when you consider their backgrounds. No car in Hong Kong and little physical activity in spatial relations. Then suddenly learn to drive in NZ and have a go.

The funniest episode was years ago when we were heading out somewhere and I realized we were heading towards a place where there was a big Chinese event on. I exclaimed "Oh no, this is going to be awful". My wife quite rightly accused me of racism. Sure enough, my racial stereotype was spot on and within a kilometre there were many hilarious moves and lack of moves by Chinese causing chaos. My wife acknowledged that maybe I had been right that there would be problems.

I have spent considerable time at the Viaduct Basin admiring MV "Katana" which was Larry Ellison's ship. It's beautiful. He had it out here to watch the America's Cup. It is absolutely NOT Gaia friendly if you believe the CO2 business and depleting the world's resources stuff. And it is absolutely at the highest of high ends on the class envy scale. Neither concern me. So my objection to SUVs is a third category - contempt for the arrogant, stupid, inefficient, greedy, careless and dangerous. Women are supposedly [in stereotypes] caring and sharing. That isn't necessarily evident and I am not convinced it's true.

It doesn't fit my stereotype of them. On the contrary, they seem rather grasping and self-centred which, given their reproductive imperatives, makes sense. Blokes, who have far less certitude about their offspring, are more tribal in nature and protective of the whole tribe as a territorial property. Blokes go out and die for the tribe. Women don't.
