McCarthy was a fascist who believed that anyone who questioned the far rightwing ideology was a traitor and should be ruined, not allowed to work, black-listed, jailed, treated liike Bush treats so-called "terrorists". There was no Gitmo then, but if McCarthy had gotten his way there would have been, lots of Gitmo's, to put away anyone liberal or concerned about worker's rights, civil rights, peace, justice or equality.
