"We already pay "high dues"."

Compared to a third world country?

You have a point. Compared to other developed countries? Try again.

We already pay "high dues".

And higher would just make the "club" worse.

<golf> Clubs that don't cover expenses go out of business. Now you can cut the maintenance budget and the greens will die and the fairways will be cow pastures. But when that "infrastructure" deteriorates then no one will want to "do business" at the club. If you cut the salaries of the workers then all you will get is lousy workers.

In my experience you have two types of people at the "club". Those that pay their dues and throughly enjoy the great experience that results. And the miserable jerks who want the first class experience but spend most of their time complaining.
