Clubs that don't cover expenses go out of business.

And clubs that keep adding new expenses, both increases in the old types of spending and whole new ways to spend money, thinking they can just raise fees whenever they want to, are also likely to go out of business.

Now you can cut the maintenance budget and the greens will die and the fairways will be cow pastures. But when that "infrastructure" deteriorates then no one will want to "do business" at the club.

Federal spending goes far beyond anything that can reasonable be considered infrastructure and maintenance.
