"The dirty little secret about pharmaceuticals is that, with very few exceptions (e.g., antibiotics), drugs don't cure jack. They only treat and affect symptoms. You can take lots of medications to relieve your headache but the cause of your headache is still present." This has always bothered me too. The pharmaceutical industry has absolutely no financial incentive to cure anything. The financial incentive is to develop a palliative treatment the patient will be required to buy and take their entire lives. We need some way to encourage researchers, scientists and corporations to actually CURE diseases.
